Out Of Towner
The Out of Towner does its best to separate traveler from tourist. A tourist wanders from their homeland to step on locals toes, walk slowly on sidewalks, and complain that it's different there from where they are. The Out of Towner is not xenophobic. It encourages discovery of other people and cultures in a manner that's beneficial for both parties. The Out of Towner is not a travel magazine. It is a general interest monthly magazine featuring humorous stories, compelling spotlights, cartoons and more for someone with a little interest in a lot of things.

Solution
The solution for creating a 48 page magazine was to create a logo, log line, flatplan, personas, find articles, and design spreads.
Process
It's funny what you learn about yourself trying to compile a magazine in a quarter. I knew that I wanted to create a magazine that began as a pastiche of the New Yorker but over time meshed with others I read growing up, like the Stranger, Rolling Stone, and Mad. This was partly to showcase some of my humor, illustration, comics, and cartoons. In addition to creating features, such as an advertisement for a country album using Craigslist missed connections posts as song titles, I found articles tending to feature folks creating their own visions outside of normal standards, which reinforced the notion all who wander are not lost.
